Microscopy Image Wins 5th Place

Recently the winners of the 40th Anniversary Nikon Small World Contest were announced. An image submitted by the Biomedical Microscopy Core (BMC) director placed 5th.

The image of Bovine pulmonary artery endothelial cells stained for actin (pink),mitochondria (green) and DNA (yellow) was taken using the ELYRA S1.

The ELYRA S1 is a super-resolution microscope housed in the BMC. It is one of seven microscopes available for use in the facility by researchers both on campus and in the surrounding scientific community.
